Located on Kingsburg Beach in Kingsburg, Nova Scotia, the design of the Beach House incorporates the distinctive characteristics of the numerous old English barns that surround it. Years ago there was a barn in this exact same location. The building features a central area with a 30 foot high cathedral ceiling and two sleeping lofts, joined by a bridge. It is beautifully finished in pine throughout. The outside is finished in weathered cedar shingles. The house was planned by Brian MacKay-Lyons and Anne Fouillard, decorated by Anne and built by Warren McAuley and John Duckworth in 1997. It has outstanding appeal and functionality. It is located in an 18th century Swiss German settlement featuring +/- 200 year old classic Cape Cod style houses, all constructed with handhewn beams. Adding additional historical interest, adjacent to the Beach House, there is a small, quaint, centuries-old settlers cemetery.

It is 300 feet through the beach grass to a beautiful, half mile long beach, on which you rarely see more than half a dozen people, even in the middle of the summer. From all bedrooms and the open plan main floor, you can watch the sun and moon rise out of the ocean to the accompaniment of the surf. The only noise you will hear is the surf and the birds, of which there are about 50 species. Yes, but let us not forget the sound of the sizzle of local shellfish braising on your Beach House barbeque! |
In addition to the ocean in the backyard, there is a +/-100 acre pond in the front yard which is good for canoeing and kayaking. You will not feel like a tourist in a tourist development here, you will feel that you are experiencing life from another time, in an authentic environment. This property enjoys a very high percentage of returning clients. Excellent selection of restaurants and shops 10-20 minutes away.
